1st Merrow Scout Centre Project
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have recently conducted a review of the Group’s facilities as part of a wider Group development plan. As a result we are intending to replace our 2 ageing existing buildings with a new Merrow Scout Centre.
Our Vision for the site is:
• A single modern building to replace existing buildings
• Purpose built Centre for Scouting in the 21st Century
• A Building accessible by all and equipped for all
• Redesigned outdoor useable Scout activity space with exciting outdoor facilities
• Dedicated Parking near entrance and restricted vehicle access to remaining grounds
• Facilities that Encourage & Support Youth Development
• To facilitate growth of the group to offer Scouting to over 10% of youth in Merrow, Burpham & Boxgrove

This vision is key to our following aims:
1) Deliver an exciting, balanced program, combining traditional skills and modern technology
2) Allow and encourage growth in numbers of young people
3) Remove unnecessary challenges for leaders
4) Attract new leaders
We are working on the plans and logistics but need to turn our attention to raising the £320,000 that it will cost to build.
At this stage we are seeking ideas as to how we can raise the money and we will be holding an informal brain storming meeting on 7th December at 8pm, at 28 Trodds Lane, Merrow with wine and mince pies to stimulate the thinking process.
I know that we all have busy lives but please try to attend if you:
• have ideas of how to raise some or all of the money
• have experience of raising money or a similar project
• have knowledge of who to approach for grants, funding or corporate sponsorship,
• know of someone who has experience of raising money or a similar project
• are interested in finding out more

The leaders and executive committee work very hard to deliver the best Scouting experience possible for your children. This project is key to our development plan to deliver an even better Scouting experience to a larger number of children, so please start thinking and support us if you can
